Sr. Faustina "Snow" and Sr. Grace had a fantastic time at the National Catholic Youth Conference, “Blessed + Broken + Given.” This year, NCYC was held in Indianapolis from November 21-23, 2019.
The CMR sisters accompanied 151 youth from the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, chaperoning about 30 of the youth. They traveled by bus for 7 hours! But it was well worth it! An amazing turnout of 20,000 teens and young adults from around the country participated in the 3-day conference. The primary goal of the conference was for the youth to have a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. And there were many opportunities to do so!
There was Eucharistic procession, Praise & Worship, the sacrament of Reconciliation, great talks from the EMCEES (Katie Prejean McGrady and Fr. Augustino Torres, CFR), keynote speakers (Immaculée Ilibagiza, Mark Hart, and Sr. Bethany Madonna, SV) and workshop sessions. Many youth also connected through volunteer opportunities to pack meals for Pack Away Hunger. The youth made 44,000 meals during the 3 days!
Overall, the youth and the Sisters ended the conference on fire for Jesus, encouraged to use God’s gifts, and more courageous in facing life’s challenges!
Sr. Faustina said one of her favorite "connecting" moments is when youth clipped affirmation clothespins to each other. Sister said she got different ones everyday! (See picture below). Her favorite said, "Thank God for your vocation, please pray for my vocation."
The National Catholic Youth Conference is held every two years. The next conference will be on November 18-20, 2021. Mark your calendars!
